The Mysterious Mannequin is an exciting mystery book, the 47th story in the popular Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series. It came out in 1970. Like many Nancy Drew books, it was written by a "ghostwriter" under the famous name Carolyn Keene. The story idea came from Harriet Stratemeyer Adams, who managed the Stratemeyer Syndicate, a company that created many popular book series.

Unraveling the Mystery

A Strange Disappearance

The adventure begins when Nancy Drew's father, Carson Drew, has a client from Turkey who suddenly vanishes. This mysterious disappearance is the first clue in a puzzling case.

The Secret Message Rug

Soon after, Nancy receives a very unusual gift: a beautiful oriental rug. But this is no ordinary rug! Woven into its colorful border is a secret message. This hidden code starts Nancy on a difficult search. She needs to find a missing mannequin, which seems to be connected to the rug and the vanished client.

A Robbery and a Trip to Turkey

Things get even more exciting when a robber tries to steal the special rug from the Drew home. Nancy knows this rug is very important. To find more clues, Nancy, her friends Bess and George, her boyfriend Ned, his friend Burt, her father Carson, and Ned's friend Dave all travel to Istanbul, Turkey.

Bess Goes Missing!

Their search in Istanbul leads them to meet a young Turkish woman. But during their investigation, something shocking happens: Bess suddenly disappears! Now, Nancy and her friends must solve the mystery of the missing mannequin and find their friend Bess in a foreign country.
