The New Adventures of Pinocchio was a fun animated TV show from 1960 to 1961. It was made using a special technique called stop motion, where puppets are moved tiny bits at a time and photographed to make them look like they're moving! This show was produced by Rankin/Bass Productions in the United States and created by Arthur Rankin, Jr. and Jules Bass.
The series was based on the classic 1883 book The Adventures of Pinocchio by Italian author Carlo Collodi. It was the very first show from Rankin/Bass to use their famous "Animagic" stop motion style. This special animation was done by Tadahito Mochinaga's MOM Productions in Japan.
A total of 130 short "chapters," each about five minutes long, were made between 1960 and 1961. These chapters were often grouped together to create longer, 25-minute episodes. The creators made sure their Pinocchio looked and acted differently from the popular 1940 Disney movie version. For example, their puppet Pinocchio wore a T-shirt and shorts instead of a fancy hat. Also, the Cricket had a unique, high-pitched voice, and Geppetto was calm and thoughtful.
Years later, in 1980, Rankin/Bass made another stop motion show about Pinocchio. It was a Christmas special called Pinocchio's Christmas.

Meet Pinocchio and Friends
This section tells you about the main story and the characters you'll meet in the show.
Pinocchio's Exciting Journey
The story is narrated by an old wood carver named Geppetto. He tells us how he created a magical living puppet called Pinocchio. This puppet can walk, jump, run, and do all sorts of things without any strings! Pinocchio is also famous for his nose growing longer whenever he tells a lie.
Pinocchio doesn't want to stay a puppet forever. He dreams of becoming a real boy. So, he sets off on an amazing journey with his friend, Cricket. Their goal is to find the Blue Fairy, hoping she can use her magic to turn him into a human.
Adventures and Challenges
Along their journey, Pinocchio and Cricket meet many interesting characters. They encounter two tricky animal characters, Foxy Q. Fibble and Cool S. Cat. These two often try to trick Pinocchio. Our heroes also face many exciting adventures, funny mishaps, and even some dangerous situations. It's a journey full of more excitement than they could ever imagine!
