Plot Summary
In 1890, Geppetto is busy making puppets for a big festival. His son Pinocchio and his friend Lampwick decide to skip school. They go to a fun carnival instead.
At the carnival, they see Madame Flambeau. She is the carnival's leader. She sells a special 'Elixir' potion. This potion can make amazing changes. Pinocchio and Lampwick then visit the "Hall of Freaks." Here they see many strange and interesting performers. Pinocchio also sees a fairy named "Blue" that only he can see.
When they get home, they find Geppetto is very sick. Pinocchio and Lampwick rush back to the carnival. They want to buy some of Madame Flambeau's Elixir for Geppetto. They don't have enough money. So, they agree to work for Madame Flambeau. Lampwick drinks his Elixir and goes home. Pinocchio gives his Elixir to Geppetto.
The next morning, Pinocchio is shocked. The Elixir has turned his father into a puppet! Madame Flambeau arrives and is angry. She wanted Pinocchio to drink the Elixir. She then tells Pinocchio that she is Lorenzini's widow. Geppetto and Pinocchio are forced to work in the carnival show. Geppetto surprisingly enjoys being a puppet. This makes Pinocchio very upset.
Pinocchio soon finds Lampwick. The Elixir turned Lampwick into a sea donkey. He is in a large fish tank at the carnival. Madame Flambeau makes a deal with Pinocchio. If he becomes a puppet, she will turn Geppetto and Lampwick back into humans. Pinocchio agrees and drinks the Elixir. He turns back into a puppet.
Pinocchio then realizes Madame Flambeau tricked him. She only wanted him to perform for the prince. Just before the show, a dwarf helps Pinocchio and Lampwick escape. The dwarf reveals himself to be Pepe, a cricket. Madame Flambeau and her team chase after them.
Madame Flambeau finds Geppetto and then Pinocchio. Geppetto says sorry to Pinocchio. He realizes he cared more about being famous than about his son. It seems he wants to be human again. Madame Flambeau then changes. She reveals she is Lorenzini! He was hiding his true identity all along. He plans to cook Lampwick. He wants to use Pinocchio and Geppetto as firewood.
Pepe gives Pinocchio clues to find the "Heart of the Mountain." Pinocchio, Geppetto, and Lampwick slide down a long path. They reach the Heart of the Mountain. There, they find a pool of "magic water." This water turns someone into their true self. Lorenzini and his team also arrive. Lampwick falls into the water and instantly becomes human again. Lorenzini laughs and jumps in. He thinks it will make him powerful. Instead, it slowly turns him into a sea monster. Geppetto and Pinocchio jump in too. They instantly turn back into humans.
The next day, Lorenzini is locked in a cage. The carnival audience laughs at his sea monster look. Pinocchio and Lampwick go to see Geppetto's puppet show. A girl named Isabella is there. She looks just like Blue, but with black hair. Isabella tells Pinocchio that the Elixir can't truly fix problems. Geppetto performs for the prince. Pinocchio and the audience cheer for him. As the movie ends, Lorenzini escapes his prison.
