The New Archies is an American animated TV show. It was made by DIC Animation City. The show is based on the popular characters from Archie Comics.
This series first aired in 1987 on NBC during its Saturday morning lineup. It showed characters like Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, and Reggie Mantle. In this version, they were younger, like pre-teens in junior high.
A comic book series with the same name was also released. It came out at the same time as the TV show.
In The New Archies, Veronica speaks like a "valley girl." This means she uses certain slang words and has a specific way of talking. In earlier shows, like The Archie Show, she had a different accent.
Meet the New Characters
Some new characters were added to The New Archies. Dilton Doiley, a smart character from the comics, was not in this show. Instead, a new character named Eugene was introduced. Eugene is an African American child.
Eugene's girlfriend, Amani, also appeared in the series. Archie also got a new dog named Red.
