The Oxfordshire Museum, also known as Oxfordshire County Museum, is a fun place to visit in Woodstock, England. It's located in a historic building called Fletcher's House. This museum tells the story of Oxfordshire county, from its past to its wildlife. It's a great spot to learn about the area.

What You Can See at the Museum

The museum has many interesting things to explore. You can learn about the local history of Oxfordshire. There are also exhibits about art and old objects found by archaeologists. You can discover the beautiful landscapes and animals of the area. The museum has 11 different rooms, or galleries, full of displays.

The Museum Building and Gardens

The museum is inside a big, old house called Fletcher's House. It's right in the middle of Woodstock. Behind the museum, there's a large garden that's fun to explore. One special part is the Dinosaur Garden! Here, you can see real footprints from a huge dinosaur called a megalosaur. These footprints were found in a quarry near Ardley. There's also a coffee shop if you need a snack or a drink. The museum is run by Oxfordshire County Council.

Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum

In 2014, another museum opened in the grounds of The Oxfordshire Museum. This is the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum (SOFO). It tells the stories of soldiers from Oxfordshire. In 2021, SOFO started a special project. They raised money to build a life-size Anderson Shelter. This was a type of bomb shelter used during World War II.
