The Porky Pig Show was a fun American TV series. It starred the famous cartoon character, Porky Pig. This show brought together many classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons. These cartoons were originally made between 1948 and 1964. The show aired on ABC from 1964 to 1967. There were 26 episodes, each lasting 30 minutes. Sometimes, even in the 2010s, you could still catch reruns of the show in Mexico.
How the Show Worked
Each episode of The Porky Pig Show started with a brand-new animated opening. This intro had a special theme song sung by Barbara Cameron. In the opening, Porky Pig would welcome his cartoon friends into a barn. They would all dance and get ready to watch his show.
After the opening, three different cartoons were shown. The very first cartoon in each episode always featured Porky Pig himself. Many of these cartoons were not seen on The Bugs Bunny Show until the 1990s. After the cartoons, a closing scene played. Porky's friends would say goodbye and promise to come back next week. These special opening and closing parts were made by Warner Bros.-DFE Cartoons.
