About The Province Newspaper
What is The Province?
The Province is a daily newspaper. This means it publishes new editions every day. It is printed in a tabloid format, which is a smaller size compared to traditional newspapers. Many people in British Columbia read The Province to get their news. It is known for its news, sports, and entertainment stories.
A Look at Its History
The Province newspaper started a long time ago, in 1898. This makes it one of the older newspapers in British Columbia. In 1923, a family called the Southam family bought the newspaper. They owned it for many years.
Who Owns The Province?
Today, The Province is owned by a company called Postmedia Network. Postmedia Network owns many newspapers across Canada. They also own another big newspaper in British Columbia called The Vancouver Sun. Even though they are owned by the same company, The Province and The Vancouver Sun are different newspapers with their own styles.
The Province and Radio
For a while, The Province newspaper also had its own radio station. The radio station was named CFCB. However, in February 1940, the radio station stopped broadcasting. This happened after the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) asked them to stop.
