What is The Quibbler?
The Quibbler is a fictional magazine that appears in the Harry Potter book series. It's not like other newspapers or magazines in the wizarding world. Instead, it often publishes stories that most people think are strange or even made up.
Who Makes The Quibbler?
The magazine is written and published by Xenophilius Lovegood. He is the father of Luna Lovegood, a good friend of Harry Potter. Xenophilius has many unusual beliefs, and he shares them through The Quibbler. Luna believes in everything her father writes. In the book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Luna often had friendly arguments with Hermione Granger because Hermione thought The Quibbler's stories were silly.
What Does The Quibbler Write About?
The Quibbler often features articles about magical creatures that most other wizards believe do not exist. For example, it might write about creatures like Crumple-Horned Snorkacks or Blibbering Humdingers.
In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Quibbler became very important. It published a special interview between a reporter named Rita Skeeter and Harry Potter. In this interview, Harry bravely told everyone that he had seen Lord Voldemort return. This was a big deal because the Ministry of Magic did not want people to believe Voldemort was back.
The Quibbler During Difficult Times
During most of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Quibbler supported Harry Potter. It wrote positive things about him and encouraged people to stand with him.
However, things changed when Luna Lovegood was captured by the Death Eaters. The Death Eaters were followers of Lord Voldemort. Because of this, Xenophilius Lovegood became very worried. He turned against Harry and started putting up "wanted" signs for Harry in The Quibbler. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione visited Xenophilius to learn about the Deathly Hallows, Xenophilius tried to turn them over to the Death Eaters. Luckily, Harry and his friends managed to escape just in time.
