The Reppies was a fun American TV show made for kids. It was a live-action musical series that taught lessons. The show featured a group of friendly reptile characters. These characters wore big costumes and were part of a music band. They sang and danced with an English tutor named Miss Summerhayes. She was a bit like Mary Poppins and sometimes seemed to have magical powers!
The show was made by WEDU Television in Tampa, Florida. Each episode had three new songs. In total, 26 half-hour episodes and one hour-long holiday special were created in 1996. They first aired on some public television stations. Later, 13 of these episodes were changed to include Christian messages. These updated episodes then aired on the Trinity Broadcasting Network and the Christian Television Network.
The idea for The Reppies came from Wendy Harrison, along with Patrick and Stephen McGonigle. James "Smokey" Knudson was the show's producer. Bruce Foulke was in charge of the music. The show also aired on the Smile network and the Australian Christian Channel in Australia.
The cast included American actress Trudie Petersen, who played the English tutor. Rick Stanley played the band's manager, and 13-year-old Talia Osteen was also part of the cast.
