About The Singing Kettle News Show
This exciting show had four different series in total. Across these series, there were 37 episodes, each lasting about 10 to 15 minutes. The main goal of the show was to help 'Mr Editor' create the front page of the "Kettle News" newspaper.
How They Made the News
The Singing Kettle team had to find the most important stories for their newspaper. They did this by singing songs and telling fun tales. Every episode featured two songs that helped them gather their news.
Changes Over the Series
- Series One (1995): In the first series, a special rhyme was used at the end of each episode. This rhyme helped them collect the newspapers they had just put together.
- Series Two (1996): Things changed a bit in Series Two! The show started being performed in front of a live audience of children. The opening song became shorter, and the famous rhyme was moved to the very beginning. A stage was also added for the team to perform on. At the end of each episode, they introduced a new catchphrase: "Let's Sing all about it!" They would say this before running onto the stage to sing.
- Series Three (1998): For this series, the show's name became shorter, just The Singing Kettle. There was also new music and a new theme song. The opening titles showed the camera moving across the audience and onto the stage. Cilla, Artie, and Jane then sang a longer version of their famous rhyme while Gary played music.
