The Tale of Kitty-in-Boots is a British children's book. It was written by Beatrix Potter and illustrated by Quentin Blake. The book was published in 2016, many years after Beatrix Potter first wrote it.
About the Book
This special book tells the story of a black cat named Kitty. She seems like a very well-behaved cat. But Kitty actually leads a secret "double life"! The story also features other famous characters created by Beatrix Potter. These include Peter Rabbit and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle.
How the Book Was Found
The original story was written by Beatrix Potter a long time ago. She sent the story to her publisher in 1914. Beatrix Potter wanted to finish the book. However, she was very busy with other things. World War I started, and she also got married and became ill. Because of these events, the book was never completed or published during her lifetime.
Many years later, in 2015, a publisher named Jo Hanks made an exciting discovery. She was working at Penguin Random House Children's Books. Jo Hanks found the old story manuscript in an archive. This archive is a collection of old documents at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
When Was It Published?
After the manuscript was found, it was finally published. The Tale of Kitty-in-Boots came out on September 1, 2016. It was published by Frederick Warne & Co. This company also published many of Beatrix Potter's other famous books. The book's release was extra special. It happened during the year that marked 150 years since Beatrix Potter was born!
