Unraveling the Mystery: The Plot
The story begins when a new person, Ms. Minerva Smirt, arrives in Ferryport Landing. She tells Sabrina and Daphne they must go to school. If they don't, they will be sent to a foster home, away from their family.
School Troubles and a Secret Plan
So, Sabrina, Daphne, and their friend Puck (who is there to protect them) start school. But they soon find that many students and even teachers are not very friendly. Then, something shocking happens: one of Sabrina's teachers is murdered! The Grimm sisters decide they must investigate this mystery.
As they look into the strange events, they uncover a secret plan. Someone is trying to drill a tunnel under the school. This tunnel would help people escape the magical barrier around Ferryport Landing.
A Dangerous Wish
During their investigation, Mayor Charming gives the sisters special matches. These are the Little Match Girl's Matches, and they can transport a person anywhere in the world. Sabrina, desperate to find her missing parents, wishes to go to the place where they are kept.
Daphne worries about what might happen if they use the matches without thinking. But Sabrina ignores her sister's concerns. She uses a match and finds herself in a dark, scary place. There, she sees a huge, fire-breathing monster called the Jabberwocky. She also finds a small, very confused girl wearing a red cloak. The adventure continues in the next book, The Problem Child.
