The Story Begins
This episode starts with Marge telling her children, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie, about how she and Homer first met. They were both in high school in 1974. Homer instantly fell for Marge when he saw her.
Homer's Plan to Meet Marge
Homer wanted to get close to Marge. He found out she was looking for a French tutor. Even though Homer didn't know French, he pretended to need help with the language. He hoped this would give him a chance to spend time with Marge.
French Lessons and Feelings
Marge agreed to tutor Homer. They spent many hours together, with Marge teaching him French verbs. During these lessons, Marge started to like Homer too. She found him charming and funny.
A Surprise and a Prom Date
Marge was upset when Homer finally admitted he wasn't a real French student. He just wanted to be with her. Because she was mad, Marge turned down Homer's invitation to the prom. Instead, she decided to go with a different boy named Artie Ziff.
Prom Night and Realizations
Artie Ziff turned out to be a very bad date. He was bossy and not much fun. Marge soon realized that she had made a mistake. She missed Homer and knew that he was the one she truly wanted to be with.
