Theodorus Johannes Franciscus Brokmann Jr. (born July 3, 1922 – died December 24, 2003) was a well-known Dutch football player. Most people knew him as Theo Brokmann. He played as a striker, which is a player whose main job is to score goals.
Playing for Ajax
Theo Brokmann Jr. started his football career with the famous Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam. He made his first appearance, called a "debut," for the team in 1939. This was right after World War II began.
For many years, Theo was a key player for Ajax. He was part of the "starting line-up," meaning he usually began the game on the field. He played in this important role until 1947.
A New Talent
In 1947, a young player named Rinus Michels joined the team. Rinus was only 17 years old at the time. He eventually took Theo's place in the starting line-up. Rinus Michels later became a very famous football manager.
Brokmann's Achievements
During his time with Ajax, Theo Brokmann Jr. played in 126 matches. He scored an impressive 79 goals for the club. This was a special achievement because he scored one more goal than his own father, Theo Brokmann Sr., who also played for Ajax.
Later Life
Theo Brokmann Jr. passed away in December 2003. He was 81 years old. He is remembered as an important player in Ajax's history.
