Theophilus Danzy (born May 20, 1930 – died November 27, 2012) was an important American football coach. He led several college football teams during his career. He was known for his dedication to the sport.

Danzy was a student at Tennessee State University. After playing, he became a coach. He spent many years helping young athletes. He passed away in 2012 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Theophilus Danzy's Coaching Career

Theophilus Danzy had a long and interesting career in college football. He worked as both a head coach and an assistant coach. He coached at several different universities.

Early Coaching Roles

Danzy started his coaching journey as an assistant. He worked at Alcorn State University from 1964 to 1971. This was his first long period with the Alcorn State Braves.

In 1972, he got his first chance to be a head coach. He led the Prairie View A&M Panthers. His team finished that season with a 5 wins and 5 losses record.

After that, he returned to Alcorn State as an assistant. He stayed there from 1973 to 1976. He helped the team improve during these years.

Leading More Teams

Danzy then became the head coach for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. He coached them for two seasons, in 1977 and 1978. In his second year, the team had a strong 7–4 record.

In 1979, he took on a new role. He became the defensive coordinator for the Arkansas–Pine Bluff Golden Lions. This meant he was in charge of the team's defense.

From 1980 to 1982, Danzy was the head coach at Miles College. His teams worked hard during these years.

Return to Alcorn State and Later Years

Theophilus Danzy went back to Alcorn State again. He was an assistant coach from 1983 to 1985. Then, from 1986 to 1990, he became the head coach of the Alcorn State Braves. This was a significant period in his career.

His time as head coach at Alcorn State included several successful seasons. The team often finished high in their conference. For example, in 1986 and 1987, they finished second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

His final head coaching job was at Stillman College. He coached the Stillman Tigers from 1999 to 2005. At Stillman, he led the team to some impressive seasons. In 2002, the Stillman Tigers had a great 8–2 record.
