Theresa Breslin is a Scottish author who has written more than 50 books for young people. In 1994, she won a very important award called the Carnegie Medal for one of her books. This award recognizes the best children's book of the year.

In 2019, Theresa Breslin received a special honor called the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire). This award was given to her by the Queen for her amazing contributions to literature.

About Theresa Breslin

Theresa grew up in a town called Kirkintilloch in Scotland. She started writing when she was a teenager, even writing about a steel mill closing near her home. She went to Aston University in Birmingham. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked as a librarian. She has now published over 50 books!

Her Award-Winning Books

Her book Whispers in the Graveyard, published in 1994, is about a boy who has dyslexia. This book won the annual Carnegie Medal from the Library Association, which means it was chosen as the best children's book that year.

Another one of her books, Prisoners in the Graveyard, was also considered for the Carnegie Medal in 2010.

In 2019, Theresa Breslin received the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) award for her services to literature. In the same year, she also won the Scottish Book Trust's Outstanding Achievement Award.

Theresa Breslin writes many different kinds of stories.

Divided City (2005) is one of her popular books. It was her eighth book published by Doubleday.

Another exciting book is The Medici Seal (2006). For this book, Theresa did a lot of research. She even traveled to see famous artworks by Leonardo da Vinci, like the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. The Medici Seal is a story full of mystery, danger, and secrets. It follows a character named Matteo as he travels across Italy with Leonardo da Vinci.
