Her Career in Television

Theresa Plummer-Andrews started her career helping famous actors like Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. She then moved into television in the 1970s.

She worked on a show called Elephant Boy. This job taught her how to film shows in different countries, like Singapore and Sri Lanka. She also learned how to put all the parts of a show together, even if they were filmed far apart. This experience led her to work for other TV companies in New Zealand and Australia.

In 1981, Theresa joined a British TV company called TVS. Here, she started to focus more on making shows for children. This interest led her to join the BBC in 1986. At the BBC, she became an executive producer for Children's BBC. She helped create BBC Children's International to get more money for kids' shows.

As a co-executive producer for Animals of Farthing Wood, she worked with many different TV stations. There were 18 broadcasters in 16 countries involved! Later, she was promoted to a role where she helped find and develop new shows. In this job, she was an executive producer for the very popular show Bob the Builder.

In 1999, Theresa Plummer-Andrews helped start a company called Create TV and Film. This company made the Little Robots series, which used stop-motion animation. In 2003, she decided to leave CBBC to spend more time on Create TV and Film.

In 2015, she worked as a script editor for a show called Adventures in Duckport. This meant she helped make sure the stories were good.

Her Impact on TV

Theresa Plummer-Andrews was highly respected in the television world. She helped the BBC work with many independent companies to create shows. Because of her efforts, a lot more of CBBC's content came from outside producers.
