Thiago Camilo Palmieri (born September 20, 1984, in São Paulo) is a Brazilian racing driver. He has been competing in the Stock Car Brasil championship since 2003. Thiago drives for Chevrolet and has achieved great success. He finished as the runner-up in the championship in 2009, 2013, 2017, and 2019. He is also a three-time winner of the exciting Corrida do Milhão race.
Thiago Camilo's Racing Journey
Thiago Camilo grew up around racetracks. His father, Jose 'Bel' Camillo, was also a racing driver. He competed in various touring car races. Thiago's father finished his racing career in 2003. This was the same year Thiago started his own professional racing journey.
Thiago is part of a small group of Brazilian drivers. They always wanted to race touring cars. They were not interested in formula racing. In 1994, Thiago started racing karts. He quickly began to get good results. He won several regional titles by the year 2000. In 2001, he joined the Stock Car Light series. He finished third in the championship twice.
In November 2004, Thiago made history. He won the last race of the season at Interlagos. This made him the youngest driver ever to win a Stock Car race. He was only 20 years, two months, and eight days old. Earlier that season, he also became the youngest driver to get a pole position. This means he started the race from the very front.
Thiago raced for the Vogel team for seven seasons. During this time, he won eight races and ten pole positions. He reached the Super Final four times in a row from 2006 to 2009. In 2009, he finished as the runner-up. In 2011, Thiago started a new partnership. He began racing for the RCM Motorsport team. This team was led by Rosinei Campos.
