The Third Millennium Bridge (in Spanish: Puente del Tercer Milenio) is a special type of bridge called a bow-string bridge. It is located in Zaragoza, Spain, and crosses the Ebro River.
About the Third Millennium Bridge
This amazing bridge was designed by Juan José Arenas de Pablo. The plans for the bridge were finished in 2002. Building work on the bridge started in 2005 and finished in 2008.
The Third Millennium Bridge was built to help complete the Z-30 highway. It was also ready in time for the Expo 2008 event, which took place in Zaragoza. The company Dragados S.A. built the bridge.
The bridge officially opened on June 7, 2008.
Key Features of the Bridge
The Third Millennium Bridge is quite large. It is 270 meters (about 886 feet) long. The bridge is also 48 meters (about 157 feet) wide. Its main span, which is the longest part between its supports, measures 216 meters (about 709 feet).
