Thomas Boyd was a Scottish noble who lived a long time ago. He was born around 1547. His father was Robert Boyd, 5th Lord Boyd.
Fighting for Mary, Queen of Scots
In 1568, Thomas Boyd and his father fought in a big battle. This was the battle of Langside on May 13, 1568. They fought to support Mary, Queen of Scots.
Becoming Lord Boyd
Thomas became the 6th Lord Boyd in 1590. This happened after his father, the 5th Lord Boyd, passed away.
The Lordship of Kilmarnock
In 1592, Thomas made an important deal with the King. He gave his lands back to the King. Then, the King gave them back to Thomas with a special new document. This document made his lands a "free Lordship and Barony." It was named the Lordship and Barony of Kilmarnock. This meant Thomas became Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock.
His Later Years
Thomas Boyd passed away in June 1611. His son, Robert, had died before him. So, the title and lands went to Robert's son, who became Robert Boyd, 7th Lord Boyd.

- Andrew Boyd: He became a bishop in 1632. He was in charge of the Argyll area.
- Marion Boyd: She married James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Abercorn.
- Isabel Boyd: She married John Blair. Later, she married Dougal Campbell.
- Agnes Boyd: She married George Elphinstone in 1600. He was a leader in Glasgow. As a wedding gift, King James VI of Scotland gave Agnes a beautiful gold necklace and a gold belt. He also gave her gold hair decorations with pearls.
