Thomas Crompton was an English politician who worked in the government during the 1600s. He was a member of the House of Commons, which is a part of the English Parliament, at different times between 1647 and 1660.

Early Life and Education

Thomas Crompton was the son of Sir Thomas Crompton from Stafford. He began his studies at the University of Oxford on July 1, 1614. Later, in 1621, he became a lawyer at Lincoln's Inn, a famous place for legal training in London.

Political Career

Crompton became a Member of Parliament (MP) for Staffordshire in 1647. This was during a time known as the Long Parliament. He continued to serve in the government through different periods.

He was also a member of the Rump Parliament. This was a smaller group of MPs that remained after some political changes. Thomas Crompton was chosen to be an MP for Staffordshire again in 1654. He served in the First Protectorate Parliament during this time.

He continued his political work, being elected again in 1656 for the Second Protectorate Parliament. His service continued into 1659, when he was elected for the Third Protectorate Parliament. In 1659, he was also brought back as a member of the Rump Parliament, showing his continued involvement in the changing government.
