Thomas Grove was born around 1609. His father was Robert Grove, and his mother was Honor South. His family lived in a place called Mere, Wiltshire in England. His mother's family was from Swallowcliffe, also in Wiltshire.
His Early Life
When he was a young man, Thomas Grove studied law. In 1627, he became a student at Middle Temple. This was one of the important schools in London where people learned to become lawyers. He lived at a place called Ferne House in Donhead St Mary, Wiltshire.
Becoming a Member of Parliament
In 1645, Thomas Grove started his political career. He was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for a town called Milborne Port in Somerset. He joined a group of MPs in what was known as the Long Parliament. This Parliament was called "Long" because it met for many years.
