Thomas Ong Thian Chai was born on February 1, 1969, in Singapore. He is a well-known Singaporean actor, a television host, and a businessman. He has been active in the entertainment world since 1994.
Thomas Ong's Career Journey
Before becoming a star, Thomas Ong worked as a flight steward for Singapore Airlines. In 1994, he decided to try something new. He joined the new TV company called Television Corporation of Singapore.
His first acting role was in a show called Dr Justice. People quickly noticed his talent. In the 1990s, he won awards three times for being one of the Top 5 or Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes. This showed how much fans loved him!
Thomas Ong took breaks from acting a few times. He wanted to focus on other projects and business ideas. But he always came back to the TV screen. In 2012, he signed a new three-year contract with MediaCorp.
In January 2020, Thomas Ong shared that he was stepping away from the entertainment industry. He decided to retire from acting and hosting.
