Thomas Ravenscroft was likely the son of William Ravenscroft. His father was also a politician. William served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Flintshire in 1586. An MP is someone elected to represent a certain area in the government.

Thomas Ravenscroft married Margaret Williams. She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Williams, 2nd Baronet of Vaynol Carnarvonshire.

Political Career

In 1621, Thomas Ravenscroft was chosen to be a Member of Parliament for Monmouth Boroughs. This meant he represented that area in the English government.

During November 1643, Thomas Ravenscroft was known as Colonel Ravenscroft. He handed over Hawarden Castle to Parliament. Later, in May 1648, he was given an important job. He was appointed with others to help manage the area of Flintshire for Parliament. This meant he helped run things in that region on behalf of the government.

Later Life and Legacy

Thomas Ravenscroft died in 1681. He was buried at Holy Trinity Church in Cheshire. There is a special monument there to remember him.
