Early Life and Education
Thomas Rouse was born in 1608. His father was Sir John Rouse. Sir John was also a Member of Parliament. Thomas went to Oxford University. He studied at Brasenose College. Later, he went to Corpus Christi College. He also studied law at Middle Temple. In 1641, he was given the special title of Baronet. This meant he was called Sir Thomas Rouse.
Political Career and Roles
Sir Thomas Rouse became involved in politics. In 1645, he joined a special committee for Worcestershire. This committee helped manage the county. In 1648, he became the High Sheriff of Worcestershire. This was an important local role.
In 1654, people chose him to be an MP. He represented Worcestershire. This was in the First Protectorate Parliament. He helped with taxes in 1656. He also held another important local job. This job was called Custos Rotulorum.
In 1660, Sir Thomas was again elected as an MP. This time he represented Evesham. He served in the Convention Parliament. On July 10, 1660, he became a Justice of the Peace (J.P.). This meant he helped keep law and order.
Family and Later Life
Sir Thomas Rouse passed away when he was 67 years old. He was buried at Rouse Lench. There is a special monument there for him.
He was married three times. His first wife was Jane Ferrers. She was the daughter of Sir John Ferrers. His second wife was Frances Murray. His third wife was named Ann.
