Early Life and Music Start
Thomas Winkler was born in Zollikofen, Bern, Switzerland. He began his music journey in 2009. This was after he finished his university studies. He joined two Swiss heavy metal bands, Emerald and T-Rage.
Winkler also sang for the Chinese power metal band Barque of Dante. He contributed to their song "Way of Your Life" in 2011. He also sang on their album Lasting Forever.
Joining Gloryhammer
In 2010, Thomas Winkler posted a video online. It showed him trying out for the British band DragonForce. Later, Christopher Bowes, the singer from the pirate metal band Alestorm, discovered him. Bowes asked Winkler to join his new band, Gloryhammer.
Winkler first said no, but after more offers, he joined. He was a member of Gloryhammer from 2012 to 2021. During this time, he recorded three full-length albums with them. On 22 August 2021, Gloryhammer announced that Thomas Winkler was no longer in the band. Thomas later explained that he left due to differences in how the band was run.
Forming Angus McSix
On 4 July 2022, Thomas Winkler announced his return to music. He had signed with Napalm Records for his new band, Angus McSix. On 10 October 2022, the full band lineup was revealed. Winkler was joined by Thalìa Bellazecca, Manu Lotter, and Sebastian Levermann. These musicians also play characters in the band's story and wear costumes.
The band's first song, "Master of the Universe," came out on 19 January 2023. At the same time, they announced their first album, Angus McSix and the Sword of Power. This album was released on 21 April 2023. Two more songs, "Sixcalibur" and "Laser Shooting Dinosaur," were also released from the album. On 7 January 2025, Winkler announced he was leaving Angus McSix. He stated he wanted to spend more time with his family.
