Thorpe is located almost exactly halfway between two other towns: Buffalo, which is about eleven miles to the northwest, and Marshfield, about eleven miles to the southeast.

Early Days and the Post Office

A long time ago, in 1880, a post office was opened in Thorpe. This was an important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for many years, helping the community connect with the outside world. However, it eventually closed its doors in 1907.
