Three Chute Falls facts for kids
Three Chute Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Yosemite National Park in California, USA. It flows along Tenaya Creek.
This waterfall is found in the lower part of Tenaya Canyon, not far from Mirror Lake. It gets its name because the creek splits into three clear "chutes" or channels. These channels flow over a smooth, hard rock called granite right at the top of the falls. After that, the water drops about 80 feet (24 meters) down into a pile of large rocks below.
Finding Three Chute Falls
It's quite easy to reach Three Chute Falls. You can get there by walking upstream along the Mirror Lake Trail. The falls are not super well-known, and you might need to do a little bit of climbing over rocks to get a good view.
Further upstream from Three Chute Falls, you'll find a much larger waterfall called Pywiack Cascade. This impressive cascade on Tenaya Creek is about 600 feet (183 meters) tall!
