Jorge Castillo came to the United States in 1980 during the Mariel Boatlift. He was born and raised in Cayo la Rosa, Cuba. After living in Miami for three months, Jorge moved to Iowa. There, he became very good at speaking English. He also learned different cooking styles from the Midwest.
