Three Rooker Island, also known as Three Rooker Bar, is a small island located in Pinellas County, Florida. It sits in the Gulf of Mexico, west of Tarpon Springs. The island is south of Anclote Key and north of Honeymoon Island. You can only reach this island by boat. Its shape and size often change because of the ocean currents around it.

About Three Rooker Island

Three Rooker Island is a newer island compared to others nearby. It first appeared in the 1980s. Strong ocean currents slowly piled up sand until it rose above the water. By the 1990s, the island was big enough for plants to start growing there. These plants helped to hold the sand in place. This made the island more stable and less likely to wash away.

A Special Place for Nature and Fun

Three Rooker Island is part of the Anclote Key Preserve State Park. This means it is a protected area. A big reason it's protected is to help seabirds that nest there. These birds need quiet places to lay their eggs and raise their young.

Even though it's protected, Three Rooker Island is also a popular spot for people who love boating. Many local boaters visit the island to enjoy the sun and water. It's a great example of how nature can be preserved while also allowing people to enjoy it responsibly.
