Thristan Mendoza, also known as "Tum-Tum," was born in 1989. His hometown is Quezon City, which is in the Philippines. He grew up with three siblings: Rainier, Victoria Angela, and Victorina Francesca.
A Young Musical Talent
When Thristan was very young, he went to the Philippine Montessori Center. At just two and a half years old, doctors diagnosed him with autism. Autism is a condition that affects how a person communicates and interacts with others.
Around the same time he was diagnosed, Thristan started playing music. It quickly became clear that he had a very special gift for it. He showed an amazing ability to play the marimba, which is a musical instrument similar to a large xylophone.
Studying Music at University
In 1997, when Thristan was eight years old, the University of the Philippines recognized his incredible talent. They presented him as a gifted child prodigy. A prodigy is a young person with exceptional abilities.
