Serving His Country

Chapman was a soldier who fought in two major conflicts. The first was the French and Indian War (1754–1763). This war was fought between Great Britain and France, along with their Native American allies, over control of land in North America. Throope Chapman served in Captain John Slapp's company from Connecticut during this war. He fought alongside another famous soldier, Thomas Knowlton.

Later, Chapman also served in the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783). This war was when the American colonies fought for their independence from Great Britain. Many brave people like Throope Chapman helped America become its own country.
