Tierra Colorada is a city in the Mexican state of Guerrero. It is an important city in the central part of the state. It is also the main town of the Juan R. Escudero area.
The name "Tierra Colorada" means "Red Earth" in Spanish. This name comes from the red soil found in the mountains around the city. Long ago, in 1849, a general named Juan N. Álvarez owned a large farm here. He called his farm "Tierra Colorada" because of the soil. By 1854, the town officially got this name.
