Tilda Uganda Limited is a company in Uganda that grows and processes rice. It is located in the Eastern Region of Uganda. The company helps provide rice for people to eat.
Where Tilda Uganda Is Located
The main office and factory for Tilda Uganda Limited are in a place called Kibimba. This area is a large farm, about 3,900 hectares in size. To give you an idea, that's like 9,600 football fields!
Kibimba is along a main road that connects several towns. It's about 18 kilometers (11 miles) east of a town called Bugiri. It's also about 89 kilometers (55 miles) east of Jinja, which is a big city in that part of Uganda.
How Tilda Uganda Started
The rice farm where Tilda Uganda is now, was first set up in 1973. It was called the Kibimba Rice Scheme and was started by President Idi Amin with help from China.
Later, in 1996, a company called Tilda Limited bought this big farm. They wanted to make it better for growing, processing, and selling rice. To do this, they got a loan to help fix up the farm.
By 2011, Tilda Uganda Limited was making a lot of rice. They produced about 20,000 metric tonnes of refined rice every year. A metric tonne is 1,000 kilograms, so that's a huge amount of rice!
Who Owns Tilda Uganda
