Timothy Bowman Sr. (born April 22, 1959) is an American musician. He plays smooth jazz and gospel music. Tim started his music career in 1996. His first album was called Love, Joy, Peace. He released several albums with different record labels. In 2008, his album Tim Bowman became very popular. It appeared on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums chart.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Timothy Bowman was born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 22, 1959. He has an older sister named Vickie Winans. She is also a gospel singer. Tim started playing the guitar when he was 11 years old. After finishing high school, he joined a gospel group. It was called International Sounds of Deliverance.
Later, in the 1980s, he played guitar for a famous group called The Winans. He was invited to play a show for them. But Tim got tired of traveling all the time. So, he left the group in 1987.
Tim's Music Career
Tim Bowman began his solo music career in May 1996. His first album, Love, Joy, Peace, was released by Insync Music. At first, only 2,000 copies were made for his hometown of Detroit. Half of them sold in just five weeks! Because of this success, the album was then sold all over the country.
He released two more albums with the same labels: Paradise in 1998 and Smile in 2000. In 2004, he released This Is What I Hear with a new label. His fifth album, Tim Bowman, came out in 2008. This album was a big hit for him. It reached number 15 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. Over the years, Tim has had four songs on the Smooth Jazz Songs chart.
