Tim Forsyth (born on August 17, 1973) is a famous Australian high jumper who is now retired. He competed in the Olympic Games three times: in 1992, 1996, and 2000.
Tim's first big success on the world stage was in 1990. He won a silver medal at the World Junior Championships. In 1992, when he was just 19 years old, Tim won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. He jumped 2.34 meters, which was his best jump at that time. He also won another silver medal at the World Junior Championships, where he was just beaten by Steve Smith from Britain. Two years later, at the 1994 Commonwealth Games, Tim finished ahead of Steve Smith and won a gold medal!
Tim's highest jump ever was 2.36 meters, which he achieved in 1997. This was five months before he won his last major medal: a bronze at the World Championships in Athens, Greece. His 2.36-meter jump was his ninth Australian record, and it was also the best jump ever recorded in the Oceanian area at that time. Tim Forsyth has won the Australian national championship for high jump six times!
Tim's father, Jim Forsyth, was also a well-known sportsman who played Australian rules football for the Essendon Football Club.
