Career
After trying a few different subjects in college, Tim Hofman joined the BNN-VARA Academy in 2011. This is a special school for people who want to work in television and radio. After he finished, he started working as a reporter for the TV channel 101 TV.
Later, Hofman worked for different shows. He was a reporter for a program called 24/7 and was a regular guest on radio and TV shows like BNN Today and De Wereld Draait Door, where he talked about the internet.
In 2014, Hofman began hosting several new shows. These included De Social Club, Je Zal het maar Hebben (You Have to Live with It), and Mijn 5000 Vrienden (My 5000 Friends). In 2016, he showed his clever side by winning the sixteenth season of the popular game show Wie is de Mol? (Who is the Mole?).
Getting Young People to Vote
In 2017, Hofman helped start an project called De Stembus (The Voting Bus). The goal was to encourage young people to vote in the election for the House of Representatives, which is part of the Dutch government.
Hofman and his team drove a bus to schools all over the Netherlands to talk to students about why voting is important. They even took a train trip with famous Dutch politicians like Mark Rutte to meet young voters. Their mission was to get 850,000 new young voters to participate in the election and use their right to vote.
Award-Winning Shows
In 2020, Tim Hofman's show Over Mijn Lijk (Over My Dead Body) won the Gouden Televizier-Ring, a very important Dutch television award. The show respectfully tells the stories of young people with serious illnesses. That same year, he also won awards for Best Presenter and for his online show #BOOS.
He continued to be recognized for his work, winning the Televizier-Star award for best presenter in both 2022 and 2024.
#BOOS
Since 2016, Hofman has hosted the online show #BOOS (the name means "ANGRY" in Dutch). You can watch it on YouTube. In the show, Hofman and his team help people who have a problem with a company or another person. They try to find a solution and make things right.
The show became so popular that it created special spin-offs. For example, in #BOOS POLERTIEK, Hofman helped young people learn about politics and decide who to vote for. There were also special episodes where he helped people in Belgium and even senior citizens.
