Tim Hofman's Career Journey
After trying out a few different studies, Tim Hofman joined the BNN-VARA Academy on January 1, 2011. This academy helps new talent learn about making TV and online shows. After finishing his training, he started working at 101 TV. There, he was a reporter for shows like TimTV and 101 Timeline.
From October 2011 to May 2012, Tim worked as a reporter and internet expert for the BNN and VARA program 24/7. In the summer of 2012, he created the show FC Gay for BNN. During the week before Christmas, Tim was a reporter at the Glass House, which is part of the Serious Request charity event. He often shared quick news updates from there.
Tim also started writing articles. He was a regular guest on NPO Radio 1's BNN Today and De Wereld Draait Door, sharing his knowledge about the internet.
In 2014, Tim Hofman became the presenter of several daily programs. These included De Social Club, Je Zal het maar Hebben, Spuiten en Slikken op Reis, and Mijn 5000 Vrienden. He also won the sixteenth season of the popular game show Wie is de Mol?.
Tim Hofman was involved in "De Stembus" (the voting bus), an idea that started on Twitter. This project encouraged young people to vote in the 2017 elections for the House of Representatives. Tim, along with other journalists, helped with this idea. They drove a van around the Netherlands and visited schools to talk about the importance of voting. They also took a special train trip across the country. Important political leaders like Mark Rutte, Alexander Pechtold, Marianne Thieme, and Gert-Jan Segers joined Tim on the trains to meet young people. Their goal was to encourage 850,000 young people, who were voting for the first time, to cast their votes.
In 2020, Tim Hofman's show Over Mijn Lijk (Over My Dead Body) won the famous Gouden Televizier-ring award. This show follows people who are very ill as they live their lives. He also won awards for best presenter and best online show for #BOOS. Tim Hofman continued to win the Televizier-star awards for best presenter in both 2022 and 2024.
