Timothy Patrick Kelly (born January 13, 1963 – died February 5, 1998) was an American guitarist. He was best known for playing guitar in the rock band Slaughter.
Tim Kelly's Music Journey
Tim Kelly was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He taught himself how to play the guitar. He started his music journey when he was around 11 or 12 years old. Other guitar players like Rick Derringer and Peter Frampton inspired him.
Tim played in several bands. These included Hellion, NEWHAVEN, and Allegiance. His brother, Bryan Kelly, was the singer for Allegiance. These early bands did not become famous. In 1988, Tim joined a new band called Slaughter. He became their lead guitarist.
Success with Slaughter
With Slaughter, Tim Kelly helped write many songs. On the band's first album, Stick It to Ya, he wrote a special guitar song. It was called "Thinking of June." He dedicated this song to his sister, who had passed away in 1982.
Tim released four studio albums with Slaughter. He also released two live albums. The last live album, Eternal Live, came out after his death. It included pictures and videos honoring Tim. His bandmate, Blas Elias, helped put this tribute together.
Tim Kelly's Passing
On February 5, 1998, Tim Kelly was in a serious car accident. He was driving on Highway 96 in Arizona. His car was hit head-on by a large truck. The truck had crossed the middle line of the road.
Tim was taken to a clinic in Bagdad, Arizona. Sadly, he passed away from his injuries. Tim Kelly is buried at Saint Ignatius Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
