Early Life and Musical Journey

Timothy James Rice-Oxley was born in Oxford, England. His parents are Charles Patrick and Margaret Rice-Oxley. He has a younger brother named Tom, who was born in 1979.
When Tim was a teenager, he took piano lessons. However, he didn't enjoy them much because they focused only on classical music, which he found boring. He often didn't practice the pieces he was given. After his parents stopped his lessons, Tim found his own love for the piano. He taught himself how to play, largely inspired by the music of the Beatles.
His Role in Keane
Tim Rice-Oxley is a key member of the band Keane. He plays the keyboards and sings backing vocals during live shows and in the studio. He has also sung lead vocals on a few songs, like "Sunshine," "This Is the Last Time" (a demo version), and "Your Love." He also sang lead on some demo versions for the albums Under the Iron Sea and Perfect Symmetry.

Tim Rice-Oxley is a gifted songwriter. He has written songs not just for Keane, but also for other famous artists.
Collaborations and Hits
In 2006, Tim helped write two songs for Gwen Stefani's second solo album, The Sweet Escape. These songs were "Early Winter" and an unreleased song called "The Girl Inside." Keane has even performed "Early Winter" live.
The song "Perfect Symmetry," from Keane's album of the same name, is considered by the band's singer, Tom Chaplin, to be one of Tim's best compositions. In 2009, Tim also co-wrote "Everything Is Beautiful" for Kylie Minogue's album, Aphrodite.
In 2010, Tim wrote all the songs for his side-project, Mt. Desolation, with Jesse Quin. That same year, he sang the main vocals for Keane's song "Your Love," which was on their experimental EP Night Train. He also performed this song live. In 2013, he co-wrote "Jump" with Gary Barlow for Gary's solo album, Since I Saw You Last.
More recently, in 2016, Tim co-wrote "Magnificent Time" for the band Travis. In 2018, he also helped write "Lost My Mind" for Lily Allen.
