Timber Terror at RCDB

Timber Terror is an exciting wooden roller coaster at Silverwood Theme Park. It first opened in 1996. The ride was originally called Grizzly. However, the park changed its name to Timber Terror in 1997. This was done to avoid confusion with other roller coasters named Grizzly. Fred Grubb, who later started Rocky Mountain Construction, helped build this ride.

Designing and Building the Ride

The idea for Timber Terror came from Gary Norton. He is the owner and founder of Silverwood Theme Park. The final design was created by Custom Coasters International. The park's own team then built the roller coaster. This was similar to how they built the park's other big wooden coaster, Tremors.

Timber Terror in Technology

Did you know Timber Terror was once featured by Apple? In 2007, Apple added a video of the coaster to its Photo Booth app. This app is found on Macintosh computers. The video showed a part of the ride as a fun background. Even though the video came out in 2007, it showed the old "Grizzly" sign. This means the video was filmed around 1996 or 1997. The video stayed in Photo Booth until 2019.

A Different Kind of Ride

Sometimes, Timber Terror offers a unique experience! On September 26, 2010, the park tried something new. They ran the roller coaster with the train going backward. This special event was part of the park's annual Scarywood Haunted Nights. The trains even got new headrests for this change. Since then, the ride has run backward for Scarywood and on the last weekend of September each year.
