Timothy Carlton (born October 4, 1939) is a well-known English actor. He has appeared in many TV shows and movies over the years. He is also the father of famous actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

Timothy Carlton was born in Oxford, England. His full name is Timothy Carlton Congdon Cumberbatch. His mother was Pauline Ellen Laing, and his father was Henry Carlton Cumberbatch. His father was a decorated naval officer. Timothy's grandfather, Henry Arnold Cumberbatch, was a consul for Queen Victoria in Turkey.
Acting Career
Carlton has had a long and successful career in both theater and television. He started appearing in BBC television series in 1966.

Timothy and Wanda have a son who is also a famous actor, Benedict Cumberbatch. In a fun twist, Timothy and Wanda played the parents of the main character, Sherlock Holmes, in the BBC series Sherlock. Their son Benedict played Sherlock Holmes in that show! This means they got to act together as a family on screen.
