Tina Harris's Music Journey

Early Life and First Steps in Music

Tina Harris was born in Baltimore, Maryland. When she was four years old, her family moved to Frankfurt, West Germany. This was because her father was in the military and was stationed there. Tina grew up in Germany.

Her journey into music began with her cousin, Turbo B. He was a rapper in the group Snap!. Turbo B chose Tina's sister, Jackie, to pretend to sing the female parts in their music video for the hit song "The Power". Later, Tina and her other sister, Angel, joined Snap!'s tours. They also appeared as dancers in music videos, starting with "Ooops Up".

In 1991, the three Harris sisters left Snap! They formed their own pop-rap group called B.O.Y., which stood for "Because Of You." This group was active for two years. Angel left in 1992, but Tina and Jackie continued as a duo for two more songs.

After B.O.Y., Tina and Jackie teamed up with singer Liza da Costa. They formed a Eurodance group called Security. They were together for about two years, from 1993 to 1995. After that, Tina sang on several Eurodance songs in the mid-1990s.

Becoming a Star with Sweetbox

In 1997, Tina Harris was contacted by Roberto "Geo" Rosan, who was the producer for the group Sweetbox. He asked her to sing on their new song, "I'll Die For You." This song helped Sweetbox get a record deal with RCA records.

Rosan then chose Tina Harris to be the main singer for Sweetbox. The group's next song, "Everything's Gonna Be Alright," became a huge hit. Tina helped write this song. It was released in Germany in late 1997 and worldwide in 1998. It quickly climbed to the top of music charts.

This song was special because it mixed urban music and hip-hop with classical music. It used a famous piece by Johann Sebastian Bach called Air from his Orchestral Suite No. 3. The song became a Top Ten hit in many countries, including England, Ireland, Sweden, and France. It also reached the Top 40 on the Billboard Charts in the US. The song stayed in the Top 10 of the World Radio Charts for eight weeks!

Sweetbox released their first album in 1998. It was called "Sweetbox" in Europe and Asia, and "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" in North America. In Japan, the album was incredibly popular, selling over two million copies. Sweetbox won two Japanese Grammies for "Best International Artist" and "Best Song of the Year." The album was released in 47 countries and sold nearly 3 million copies worldwide. Tina Harris even toured with famous artists like Britney Spears and NSYNC.

Tina's Solo Career

After promoting the Sweetbox album for two and a half years, Tina Harris wanted to change her contract. The original contract was very strict for the group's second album. Instead of changing it, the record company and producer decided to replace her with a new singer, Jade Villalon.

Her contract stopped her from releasing new music for eight years. However, in 2003, Tina was able to release her first solo album, "Love Makes The World Go Round." This was possible thanks to Sony Music Japan, who licensed her music just for the Japanese market.

When her contract finally ended, Tina released the album digitally around the world in 2007. She renamed it "Sunshine" and added two new songs: the title track "Sunshine" and a new version of "Everything's Gonna Be Alright."

In January 2016, Tina Harris released her second solo album, called "Free To Love."
