Tinatin Givievna Kandelaki (Russian: Тинати́н Ги́виевна (Ти́на) Кандела́ки, born November 10, 1975), known as Tina Kandelaki, is a well-known Russian journalist and TV presenter. She is also a producer and co-owner of the Apostol company.

Tina Kandelaki's Early Life

Tina Kandelaki was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. Her father, Givi Kandelaki, was an economist. He had both Georgian and Greek family roots. Tina's mother, Elvira Kandelaki, was a specialist in addiction medicine. Her mother had both Armenian and Turkish family roots.

Tina went to high school in Tbilisi. In 1993, she started studying journalism at Tbilisi State University. Later, in 2008, she graduated from the Russian State University for the Humanities. In 2006, Tina was in a car accident in France. She was a passenger in a car that crashed. She was discharged from the hospital just a few hours later.

Tina Kandelaki started her career in radio in Tbilisi. She worked for Radio 105 until 1995. After that, she moved to Moscow. There, she began working for many TV and radio stations. These included M-radio, RDV, Silver Rain Radio, 2x2, Biz-TV, and Muz-TV.

In 2002, she hosted a talk show called Details on the STS channel. The next year, in 2003, she became the host of the TV show The Cleverest. This show became very popular.

Hosting and Producing Shows

In 2006, Tina hosted a weekly political program. She worked with Sergey Dorenko on Echo of Moscow, a Russian radio station. In 2008, she hosted Unreal Politics on NTV. This show began as an online project.

In 2009, Tina hosted Two Stars on Channel One Russia. That same year, she worked as a producer for Infomania, a TV program on STS. She also lent her voice to a character named Juarez in the movie G-Force. This movie was made by Walt Disney Pictures.

In 2010, Tina was a judge on KVN Top-League, a TV game show. She also hosted Perfect Man on STS. She was a judge on Bolshaya Raznitsa, a parody show. From 2010 to 2011, she hosted her own radio program called "Alternatina" on Vesti FM. The TV game The Cleverest, which she hosted for many years, ended in 2012.

From 2013, she co-hosted "Iron Ladies" on NTV. From 2020 to 2022, she hosted "Special Guest" on RTVI. In 2021, she became a Deputy General Director at Gazprom-Media. She also became the Managing Director of Gazprom Media Entertainment Television. In 2022, she was appointed acting director of the TNT channel.

Tina Kandelaki's Public Activities

Tina Kandelaki has been involved in several public activities. In 2007, she spoke out against the policies of Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili. She said that a leader who seemed to support democracy had become like a "medieval tyrant."

Since 2009, Tina has been a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. She was invited to join by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. This group helps connect the public with the government.

In 2011, Tina signed "Letter 55." This was a public statement from important people. It spoke against pressure on the Russian court system. In 2022, Tina supported certain actions by the Russian government. She spoke at a rally in Moscow in March 2022. Because of her public support, she faced international restrictions in June 2022. In January 2024, she was not allowed to enter Kazakhstan. This was due to comments she made online about the Russian language in that country.

Tina Kandelaki is a partner and co-owner of Apostol Media Group. This company creates TV shows and handles public relations. In 2010, Tina opened her own restaurant in Moscow called "Tinatin." The recipes used in the restaurant are said to come from her mother.

From May to November 2011, Tina was on the board of directors for Vyatka-bank. In 2012, she started a political talk show online called "A flight with Kamikadze." She is the producer of this show. In March 2012, Tina also signed a contract with the cosmetics company Oriflame.
