Tintenbar is a small village found on the Far North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. It's part of the Ballina Shire area.
Tintenbar is about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) north-west of Ballina. You can reach it in about 9 minutes by car on the Pacific Highway.
Over the last 20 years, more people have moved to Tintenbar. This is because new housing areas like Norfolk Park, Oatley Park, and Phoenix Park were built. In 2016, 822 people lived here in an area of 21.7 square kilometers. This means there were about 36 people living in each square kilometer.

The main road that goes through Tintenbar is the Pacific Highway.
The upgrade of the Pacific Highway near Tintenbar was finished in early 2011. The highway is now straighter and has two lanes in each direction, plus bicycle lanes. This upgrade was important because the old highway had sharp turns that caused many traffic accidents, especially around Tintenbar Hill.
Before 1939, the Pacific Highway used to follow a different path along Bangalow Road and Emigrant Creek.
There isn't public transport like buses for everyone in Tintenbar. However, there are bus routes that take children to primary and high schools.

Tintenbar has an oval (a sports field) and tennis courts. You can rent these facilities from the General Store.
The village is also part of the area for the Tintenbar East Ballina Cricket Club.

History of Tintenbar
Tintenbar is located at the southern end of the Big Scrub rainforest. European settlers came to this area in the mid-1850s. Tintenbar then grew into a permanent settlement for cutting timber. In the 1880s, it was officially named a village.
History of Tintenbar Public School
The Tintenbar Public School has a long history, going back over 100 years. The first school opened in February 1884, with Miss Ellen Duffy as the first teacher. It was located near a church, a cooper's store, a hotel (the Royal Hotel), and a blacksmith's shop.
Opals Discovered
In 1901, shiny gemstones called opals were found in Tintenbar for the first time. People mined for opals in the area between 1919 and 1922.
