Tje Austin facts for kids
Tje Austin (pronounced TYE) is a talented American R&B singer and songwriter. He lives in Austin, Texas. You might also know him from the TV show The Voice. On this show, singers compete to become the best.
Growing Up
Tje Austin was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was adopted by a family when he was just four days old. Tje grew up in a big family. He has five brothers and three sisters. Many of his siblings were also adopted. This made his family very diverse and special.
On The Voice
In April 2011, Tje Austin tried out for The Voice. This is a popular singing competition on NBC. For his audition, he sang "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars. Two of the show's coaches, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green, wanted him on their team. Tje chose to join Team Cee Lo Green.
Later in the show, Tje had to sing against his teammate, Nakia. They sang "Closer" by Ne-Yo. Even though guest advisor Monica thought Tje had an amazing voice, Cee Lo Green chose Nakia. Tje Austin then left the competition.
