Toga, Missouri facts for kids
Toga is a small, unincorporated community located in the northern part of Stoddard County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It sits on a raised area of land called Crowleys Ridge. The community is about two miles northeast of a town called Advance, right along Missouri Route 25.
History of Toga
The community of Toga had a post office that opened in the year 1900. However, it only stayed open for a short time, closing in 1903. The name "Toga" comes from an early settler in the area named Toga Bill Rhodes.

Gene Rhodes: Mayor and Businessman
- Gene Rhodes (1926-2014) was born in Toga. He became a very important person in the nearby city of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
- Gene Rhodes served as the mayor of Cape Girardeau. A mayor is the leader of a city government.
- In 1963, he started his own business, which was called Rhodes Oil Companies.
