Tomás Garbizu Salaberria (born September 12, 1901 – died November 27, 1989) was a talented composer from the Basque Country in Spain. He was known for his beautiful music and was one of the last composers of a special music style called the Basque nationalist music movement.
Early Life and Music Training
Tomás Garbizu was born in a town called Lezo, in the Basque region of Spain, on September 12, 1901. He started learning music in San Sebastián. His first music teachers were Josá Maráa Iraola and Beltrán Pagola. Later, he traveled to Madrid and Paris to study the organ. In Paris, he learned from a famous musician named Charles Lebout.
Music Career
Tomás Garbizu became a professor at the San Sebastián Conservatory. He taught there from 1954 until 1989, when he retired. He helped many students learn about music and the organ.
