Tom Bevan facts for kids
Tom Bevan (born in 1868, died in 1938) was a British writer. He wrote many exciting adventure stories for boys. He also used another name, Walter Bamfylde, for some of his books.
About His Life
Tom Bevan was born in a place called Monmouthshire. He went to school at Sir Thomas Rich's School. Later, he studied at St Paul's College in Cheltenham. This college helped him train to become a teacher.
While he was working as a schoolmaster, he started writing. He loved to write historical adventure stories. These were exciting tales set in the past. In the 1920s, he worked as an editor for a company called Sampson Low. He was in charge of books about education.
Bevan wrote for several popular magazines for boys. These included Everybody's Story Magazine and the famous Boy's Own Paper. He also wrote non-fiction books for children. For example, his book Stories from British History looked at how true Shakespeare's history plays really were.
