Tom McClung (born April 4, 1957 – died May 14, 2017) was an American jazz piano player and composer. He was known for his amazing piano skills and for writing his own music. Tom played with many famous jazz musicians during his career.

Tom's Musical Journey

Tom McClung made many jazz albums. He recorded music both on his own and by helping other musicians. He played with well-known artists like Archie Shepp, Yusef Lateef, and Marion Brown. Tom lived in Paris, France, for many years. While there, he played and recorded music with other artists.

Playing with Archie Shepp

Starting in 1996, Tom traveled and recorded music all over the world. He was a member of the Archie Shepp quartet. One of their albums was called Gemini. This album included two songs written by Tom himself. It also featured a special guest, the rapper Chuck D from Public Enemy.

Solo Work and Film Music

Tom also released his own solo piano album. It was called Declassified and came out in 2007. On this album, he played his own versions of classical music songs. In 2008, Tom wrote and performed music for a movie. The film was called D'un mur l'autre - de Berlin à Ceuta.

Later Life and Passing

Tom McClung passed away in Moulins-la-Marche, France. He was 60 years old when he died from cancer.
