Tomima Edmark (born in 1957) is an American business person, author, and inventor. She is famous for creating popular hair tools like the TopsyTail, Halo Hat, and Bowrette. Tomima also started the online stores HerRoom and HisRoom, which sell clothes for women and men. These businesses are based in Dallas, Texas.

Tomima's Education Journey
Tomima Edmark studied at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She earned two degrees there in 1979. Later, she went to The University of Texas at Austin. In 1983, she finished her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. This degree helped her learn a lot about how to run a business.
Her Career and Inventions
After finishing her MBA in 1984, Tomima Edmark started working at IBM. She was a marketing executive in Dallas. This means she helped promote and sell IBM's products. She worked there until 1992.
Inventing the TopsyTail
In 1989, Tomima came up with an idea for a new hair tool called the TopsyTail. She applied for a patent for it. A patent is like a special permission that protects an invention. She received the patent in April 1991. After that, she started her own company, TopsyTail Corp., to sell her invention. The TopsyTail became very popular and earned over $150 million! It helped people create many easy and quick hairstyles.
More Hair Inventions
In 1994, Tomima introduced another hair accessory called the Bowrette. This was a hair clip inspired by the TopsyTail. It helped turn ribbons and scarves into pretty hair decorations.
Starting Online Stores
In 1998, Tomima Edmark started a new online shopping company called The Andra Group. She launched HerRoom on March 3, 2000. This website was created to help women buy bras and other undergarments online. Tomima heard from her friends that they didn't like trying on these items in department stores. So, she wanted to make it easier for women to find the right fit from home. Two years later, she launched HisRoom.com, which sells men's underwear.
